    So, good news

I finished this cascade today I stage leakfree, II stage testing, but for sure it`s leak free too !

    Two cut-off switches for safety

Sorry for that mess, unit isn`t cleaned and insulated. It looks much beter in real instead on this photos, tomorrow will take it to my home and make small session.

Hope you like it, tomorrow I will charge this baby with R290 and CO2

    Looking great Luke!

You built all that 2nd stage today? That was fast! You've made a lot of progress to say you only started the thread yesterday .

    Hey, bad and good news...

Good, that I finished cascade, it`s insulated well...but...it`s too cold !

CO2 on 2 stage is freezing and forming into Dry Ice in HX, when main HX temp is about -60*C :| Don`t have ethylene yet, and I must have working cascade tomorrow, because I will take it to computer trades and it must WORK !

Freezed pipe from oil sep to HX...I think that HX is full of dry ice

Wow. Impressive job on making a cascade TOO cold. Sorry if im talking rubbish here, as im a bit of a Phase noob. But could you possibly put a 'heater' on the HX to get the CO2 up to condensing temp? At least that way you wouldn't have to recharge the unit.

Get that ethane, or charge the autoc stage with solid r290 and a bit of co2, then charge 2nd stage with all co2. This is the main problem with co2 though.

If you have a cooling question or concern feel free to contact me.

Tomorrow, at morning I will go 150km to warsaw, to berkut, he will give me some R23, I will charge unit on trades.

I must wake up at 7am to calibrate I stage, because I was in desperation and I have released some gas from that stage (to make Hx warmer).I have to add much more gas to have good temps. But I`ve got very small amount of co2 in bottle, hope it will be enough...

nice work there LukeXe, so unit is going to be r23 now instead of 1150 second stage.
Im not sure ya need insane cold temps first stage to have a strong second stage, just as long as you can keep 1150 condensed at load (big enough HX) and you will have nice results.
I got 175psig high side with 1150 with just -35c hx out. not sure what HX in is though.

Hope you can get it sorted Luke!

If -100°C can be achieved with R23 in the 2nd stage (boiling at -82.1°C), could you not use Ethane (boiling at -88.7°C) and get better temps?

    Thanks !

Brett, I`ve got -98,5*C, tomorrow I will try to catch -100*C unloaded.

Results aren`t too awesome, I charged that cascade ON trades, where I have taken she, so 0 calibration, I charged second stage with R23. Problems with oil freezing on II stage (I`ve got separator), but I will repair that...

Tomorrow I will order ethylene (at least!)

BTW, loaded temp with 1,87Vcore 4,8Ghz c2d was -75*C, but it will be lower with some calibration

Assuming the HX is -44.4C, awesome job, but this seesm comparable to that of a standard 2 stager...

Nol, I have written, no calibration, I stage wasn`t calibrated for II stage load, I keeped I stage HX temp that high, because at -62*C oil on II stage frezzed

Ooooooh! Sorry I got amazed by the pictures
That should definetly be awesome then with ethylene. Just be careful.

i had a chance to see her when i gave some R23 to Luke, beautifull machine Really well thought and looks nice in real life.

Luke will probably come over to my place to tune her up, i have some ideas how to make her fly

wasn't oil, co2 turns solid at -58c under pressure.
    The Laws of Thermodynamics say:

Zeroth Law: "You must play the game."
    First Law: "You can't win."
Second Law: "You can't break even."
Third Law: "You can't quit the game."

Do you wanna Play Thermodynamics ???????? I forgot "you must"

Yeah, good point Blaster, I used R23 on II stage, few days earlier I used CO2, that`s right and then for sure it was dry ice. Now, with R23, it must be oil, because when I hold HX temp at about -40*C, everything is really fine (HX exit temp), but <-50*c I`ve got problems
