I tried to go back to 3.5 and the freakin board is Fudged again!!! WTF?!!

I cleared the CMOS, let it sit there for 10 min, and nothing...it just does one of two things:

    1. Boots up with fans running but no POST
    or
    2. boots with one long beep followed by two short beeps, repeatedly.

    nothing I do works!!

    PLEASE HELP!!!

One long beep followed by two short ones usually means a video adapter error. Try reseating your graphics card.

    nope...no dice

I put the old PCIe card back on as well, took off and re-put the RAM back in its place, and nothing.

where the hell is the BIOS CPR asus talks about so much....

Stick the motherboard CD in your ROM drive. Make sure it's the only drive connected to the board. Remove any other SATA, IDE or floppy connectors. This is to ensure the board will see the ROM drive first. Power up. A screen should appear with instructions on how to recover the bios. It will use whichever bios is on the motherboard CD.

By the way, it does work. I used it before.

    I just tried that.....nothing!

removed everything other than CD-ROM, put the asus cd in, rebooted, cold booted, reset, nothing...same freaking thing!!

it does nothing, or it does the long beep/2 short beeps thing again...

I believe I may have fried the FETs again, like before....what is it with these FETs!!! geezys christ!

Sorry it didn't work. I would remove the battery and leave the CMOS jumper in the reset position overnight. Maybe the board will come back to life tomorrow. Also, it's always better to diagnose a problem after a good night's sleep. Hope you get it working again.

I don't know if it's a blown mosfet. Usually when a mosfet gets fried, you wouldn't be able to power up period. The beep code indicates a video-related problem.

    Anyway, good luck.

I had that crap happen to me with latest bios. I saved setings and it would not post anymore even when i clear Cmos. The issue turned out to be my Gskil Ram. I run these @ 2.4 and before i never had an isssue posting but latly i have to put cheap low voltage ram, go into bios change Oc+1 mhz and save memory voltage to 2.4. Then i just put my old good 530Mhz capable Gskil back and it boots no problem. I was about to rma the board since it was booting fine before and ram didnt affect it as much. But now things have changed. You migh want to swap CPu's to a cheap 805d so bios would detect a new cpu and release settingsif ram changing fails

I dont have any cheap ram other than DDR400 PC3200 (its not DDR2 so I dont even know if it will work)... I would hate to goto the store just to buy some and it doesn't work...

ps-no new CPU either. It will probably be faster to just RMA the board and have them OVernight me a new one..

I've taken a couple of cpu's out to lap and when I put them back, somehow it knows and acts like I put a new cpu in and posts with hit f1 and defaults. It remembers previous settings, so all I have to do is hit f10 and go on. Maybe just try taking cpu out, waiting a minute and putting it back in.

    Guys,
what is vFSB termination? How much influence has it on ur overclock?
I am now @~~475~FSB, do i need to raise it to 1.45 (maximum).

And, in what sub timings( 10-10-10-10) do u use?

Is it smart to let vSB and vICH8R at lowest Voltage?

3.57Ghz stable (510x7). This is with 1.525V in BIOS, 1.48V in windows which droops to 1.46V under load. I haven't measured these directly off the board yet so is only just software readings.

This is nearly 9hrs orthos stable. plus i played an hour or two of farcry and css yesterday with no problems. Temps are reaching my personal limits at around 55 load, so i will test 515x7 tonight (3.6ghz) as my top 24/7 overclock, then will pump some voltage into the ram to reduce the timings from 4-4-4-8 hopefully down to at least 4-4-3-8, or at a push 3-4-4-8

Hey guys is it me or with the latest 0711 bios there are issues with the PCI-x reverting to 1x speed (7800GT here) and the "PCI" lock not working. I had to up the PCI-e speed to 110Mhz for it to stick to 16x and then I realized that the PCI frequency had scaled upto 36.8Mhz. Not good

If he's asking about a change log, it means he or someone he knows has that bios.

Regarding your question, check this thread:

If someone can try 0801 and get a change list that would be ace. I don't have my mobo working and it's being RMA'd tomorrow.

Also, what is the difference between 0509 and 0711 (the upgrading that killeed my mobo). - Die it die for no reason? lol
It was a long road and one that is now over. Behold the updatedrig:
