I seem to halt on 400FSBx9 can't go no higher. That's on 1.45v, I put it to 1.5v and still no. So maybe it needs a huge jump?

    I'm currently running 430*8 on 1.46v 1:1 ratio mem @ 4-4-4-12 on 2.1v w/tuniq tower. That's for daily use (ÜBER stable in BF2) w/ 7900GT @ 580mhz core and 895 mem clocks.

I think I may have to go to 1.55v to bench hard to try to get 3.7ghz stable.
I think you should read what I posted again, 1.65v is the most for MCH volts in bios rev 706 available in bios option.
It might be the Ram thats holding me back, but I'm fussy about my tight DDR2 timings...

Has anyone else got higher boot and run benchies with 9 x multi than 413mhz FSB running 1:1 and tight DDR2 timings with this Asus P965 mobo ?

i had the strangest thing happening, i began with oc of e6300 in the past days using a 0507 bios thinkig that i will reach high fsb, but it didn't want to be stable at anything above 330 fsb, i tried everything, even raising vcore to 1.4 but it didn't do the trick. i thought i had the first bad chip that wouldn't seriously oc, but then as the last resort i changed bios to 0711 and now i'm runing dual sp2004 at 465fsb and it seems stable at 1.375 vcore and temperatures are at 59c in coretemp cooled by big typhoon. so i don't really understand why the 0507 bios was no-go for me but it works for other people, whatever the reason i'm just happy that sorted out and it seems to be a proper chip. so i got some oc and testing to do what it can really do.

Trying to get a Orthos stable OC

I am having a heck of a time trying to get a stable moderate OC that can pass the blended Orthos stress test. I have read many of these threads, so forgive if I missed something. But here goes. The best I can get is about 2 hours (which I guess is not considdered stable correct?) The settings are:

FSB(375- would like 400)**DRAM(750)**PCIE(100)**PCI(33.3)**Spread Spectrum(disabled)**DRAM Voltage(2.1)**CPU Voltage(1.4)**FSB Voltage(1.3)**NB Voltage(1.45)**SB Voltage(Auto)**ICH Chipset(Auto). Under CPU Config, I have everything set to "disabled" besides Vanderpool Tech.(set to enabled). Under the NB Chipset, I have: Memory remap(disabled)**Config. DRAM Timing by speed(disabled) and the following timings (top to bottom) 5*5*5*12*6*42*10*10*10*10 Static Read Control(disabled) Latest BIOS 0711 (I think thats the #)

I have tried so may combinations that my head is spining. I ran small FFT's and that was ok, large FFT's didnt run long before it failed. I removed each stick of ram, and it still failed. I am VERY new to this (first time), so are my settings ok?? what am I missing, or what else can I try? Is my PSU ok, should I try new memory (ugh $$$ but willing if it is the problem). Again, sorry if this has already been discussed, or the wrong place, but ANY help would greatly be appreciated.

Unhappy Hit A Brick Wall At 350 Fsb

Ok someone please save me from suicide here. My E6600 will simply not clock over 351Mhz even if I drop the multiplier. I have trawled through this forum and I have done what everyone has suggested with regards to disabling CPU options, changed voltages (dropped and increased) but I can't get anywhere.

I can post at 355 Mhz but it won't stabilise (Prime finds error after a few seconds). If I try to go higher than this it won't post at all. My memory should be easily able to handle more (Geil Ultra PC6400 2x1Gb 4-4-4-12 and I have tried slowing the memory down with slackest latencies). I have the latest 711 BIOS on the P5B Deluxe.

Judging by so many other peoples' success at getting over 400Mhz I'm sure this thing should be able to handle more. There shouldn't be a problem with PSU (Hiper Type-R Modular 580W) and my graphics card is XFX 7900GT.

If anyone has any idea how to break this barrier I would be sincerely indebted to them and in complete awe of their overwhelming overclocking skills.

Some info that might help some

my e6600 air cooled on p5b vanilla would only run up to 427 x 9 and even there it wast too stable. Ran fine, spi 1M, regular stuff, but no 32M super pi

Had voltage pinned at 1.7 in bios which = 1.574 in probe

so along comes vapochill and now it won't get over 4.3Ghz at either 8 x 543 or 9 x 483

It is a week 28 chip

My next step is some voltage mods if I can find clear pictures and/or instructions.

Just thought I'd throw that out.

With my chip, the lack of sub-zero cooling and stock p5b got me to 3.8Ghz air cooled and then 4.3Ghz with vapochill

    Just some food for thought..

PCIE Frequency - so what's the story and rationale behind the recommended settings for this? I've read of people recommending 96, 100, 101, 120 most frequently. So what determines the best recommended value for PCIE Frequency?

If you let your video card and ever other device on the pci bus overclock, some device will hang up and cause problems

so you set it to 100 for the pcie (video) and 33 for the rest of the pci .

Once you have established your final fsb and cpu speed, ec. then you can mess with these settings.

pcie could do 120 or even better

In the old days, you could tweak the pci buss. I had plenty of devices that ran at over 50 Mhz, but my board only has auto or 33 Mhz

    hope that helps

I thought I had a stable oc at 3.5 GHz with my E6600. It passes Orthos blend for 12+ hours, and I can play World of Warcraft at 1680x1050 with all the sliders maxed out, but I ran 3DMark 05 this morning, and it caused a system reset twice.

My settings are as follows: FSB 390x9, Memory @ 4:5 (DDR2 975) 4-4-3-8-4-22, VCore 1.5v (reads 1.45 in AI Suite), Vdimm 2.3v (reads 2.25 in AI), FSB Term. and NB volts are one step below the highest setting, SB volts at auto, PCIE 100, PCI CLock 33.33. Everything else is as in the op.

What would you guys suggest? I really don't want to increase the Vcore or Vdimm, besides, if either of those was the problem I think it would fail orthos. My best guess is to increase the voltages to the NB, FSB Termination, and SB. What about increasing the PCIE frequency? Thanks for your help.

How does this board compare to the P5W DH Deluxe for overclocking.

It could simply be your PSU not being capable of giving your gfx card enough juice?

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you had a 700w OCZ PSU, that shouldn't be the case then. However, you could be running 2x X1900XTs in Crossfire, with your water pump sucking a decent amount of juice... it may still be the case? Just an idea that's all...

Thought i might chime in, I've noticed that I can bump up lots of voltage settings to get a fast / stable overclock with Orthos, SuperPi, etc. BUT, if I want to play games, my system HATES any voltages past stock EXCEPT for the North Bridge, which I set to 1.45 (If I don't I get the 3 beep error on boot)

When I try to boost other voltages I'll get a blue screen (usually the IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN... message) when I play some games (Company of Heroes in particular)
