    L628 E6600 is in!

It does nearly the exact same speeds that my L623 did, although it usually has 20-50 mhz more stable than my old L623 E6600.

    Test Setup:
    Mobo: Asus WS PRO
    Ram: Team 1gb D9GMH
    VGA: X1900 CE
Cooling: Denki + typhoon + delta, 5000RPM 60mm sunon on NB.

Subtimings are untweaked, Booted @ 417*9

No one cares or has any opinions?

I do not see all L627/L628s as better than week 23 or 24s at all.

Week 28 scaled better for me @ lower voltage, but 3300 was not stable @ 1.5vcore

Oh I care, I've got an L628 too but I'm not o/c'ing to the limit just yet since my HSF (Arctic Freezer 7 PRO) won't arrive until Monday or Tuesday.

I have had it orthos stable at 405x8 though with stock Intel HSF, so I wouldn't condemn this batch in advance...

it's still a mixed bag then, though Natalia managed to match my 1.4v E6600 step 5 ES @ 3.3ghz stable on DFI 975XG with a retail E6600 on the Asus P5WDG2 PRO.

    L628 here

The only thing I noticed was less vcore to boot @ 3.6 (1.45v) but prime stable around 1.53v. My max oc still around 3.9ish. The biggest problem is the vdroop usually .04 for me on load. I'll probably pick up the newer P5W tommorow to see any progress.

Cant get my week28 E6600 stable at 400x9 with 1.55v. Am running at 3.53GHz now, 1.5v. Not what i had hoped for but its still plenty of performance, Spi 1M at 15.000s.

I know i could have upped the volts a bit more but my current housing and CPU fan are ultraquiets (Nexus 120mm's) with moderate airflow, TAT gave me some warnings on dangerous looking red background about "thermal monitor enabled for core 0" at 1.55v, no throttling but i took a hint and went down a bit.

    Same here.

Week 28 E6600 needs at least 1.55 @ 3.6ghz and it is not stable. 1.6V does the trick!

Dang...I have not heard many good things about week 28 at all. I wonder if the week 27 chips were a different breed. I've heard a lot more success stories with week 27's than week 28's. This sucks as I'm gonna be buying ANOTHER E6600 soon here for another build.

I agree with FCG, the weeks really seem meaningless -- Getting a good example of a certain processor is what needs to happen...

    I would love to try a 6700.

What about the rest of your settings? Remember, for some reason they chips run better with 1:1 mem divider.

    Here's my 24/7 stable OC (Week 27):

    I've been able to benchmark @ 3.9Ghz

I tested 1:1 when I first got the chip, I only set 4:5 after 1:1 passed dual 32m.

Got a new revison P5W DH today gonna test the week 28 again but with a Zalman first cuz I don't wanna take apart my water block. From what I saw with my week 28, I booted @ higher clocks than my week 27 but wasn't any better or more stable past 400 FSB 1:1. I'm gonna try to rule out the motherboard running out of MCH voltage and see if I can get 3.8ghz orthos stable. I was able to run 8mb pi @ that speed with the 28, but couldn't get the week 27 to boot much higher than 3.6ghz. My week 27 did run orthos for over 24 hours 3.3ghz @ default vcore so I still think its a better chip.

Some may say it's too early to be certain, but I'm done with my 0628. I was able to get it into windows @ 4ghz but it couldn't complete 1mb pi. The highest it would complete 1mb Pi was 3915 mhz 435 FSB 1:1 with 1.675vcore set in bios. It would not complete 4mb or 8mb @ these speeds. Swapped back to my week 27, & it would not get into windows @ 4ghz. Tried 3915mhz 435FSB 1:1 with 1.65vcore set in bios and it was able to complete 1mb, 4mb, 8mb, & 32mb of Pi. The idle/load temps are waaay better on the 27 than the 28 so I'm concluding that my week 27 is a better overall cpu than the week 28.

Yea I couldnt complete Pi at 4ghz also. Highest was 3.96ghz w/ 1.66v bios SP1M. This L628 uses less vcore than my L624 and its slightly better at max clock by 40-50mhz. I suspect the memory divider on this board is unstable at high FSB. I know my ram is maxing out at +440fsb 1:1 so I try to use lower divider 4:3 but it didnt help at all. I just wanted SPi32 or 3D stable @ close to 4ghz; but I dont think it's happening without phase.

funny thing that 99.7 % of the members of xs are babbeling about the week code, what is realy 100% nonsense since the only thing what realy matters is the place >where< the chip in the wafer has been made. Maybe the last 3 numbers of the fpo/batch say`s that information. For what I know, you want a cpu that is made in the middle of the wafer.

The only difference in chips I can think of is the IHS, some have good mounted IHS, some don`t.
