YAY! I have a P5B-D Wi/Fi back in my grasp.
but I'm confused. I've never had this problem before, but still:
It won't show up the USB stick in Asus EZ Flash. Has this happened to anyone else? - If so whats the way around it? - It just freezes

Hi guys,
I am having troubles adding a 4th SATA hard drive to my system. I have the P5B Deluxe mobo and I have been running a WD 74GB raptor, 320GB Maxtor, and 300GB Seagate for some time now. However, I want to add a 400GB Seagate HD and I can't get it to detect in WinXP. I have tried using different SATA ports, but nothing. The drives detect fine in the bios and I have my raptor set for boot drive, but as soon as I go into windows it either won't find the new seagate or both seagates.
Anything I am missing here?

do you have "enhanced" mode set in the bios under IDE configuration?

Too late for me. The P5B has taken over my life. DFI had their chance and took too long! Not being a fan of SLi anyway, so the P5B-D was the über choice!

No update concerning the PCI-E pb with 0802 and 0804. As I'm also having the PCI-E 4X -> 1X with the P5B DX (CG and SLI), I asked Asus to look at this.
See you,
Thomas
I just purchased a p5b and will be ditching my ds3.
I have a question though. I have read through tons of these pages and I need someone to clarify.
If I have 2 SATA hard drive and will NOT be doing RAID and I also have 2 IDE DVD burners what ports should I plug them in to and should I set JMICRON to IDE in the bios? Do I need to install any drivers during the F6 process???

Hey there
I picked up the P5b Deluxe Wifi + Conroe 6400 + Corsair Twin2x2048 6400-C4 Kit few hours ago.. assembled everything, plugging in the 20pin connector (I don't have the 24pin connector on my enermax), pluggin in the +12V 2x2 Plug, boot and - no post...
the corsair are for 2.1V specified, rev 2.1... I think i'll have to borrow a pair of 1.9V chips from a friend of mine...
Are there any other chances to get the 2.1v sticks to boot? because i don't think he's that happy with the whole "hey, i'm putting your sticks in my computer and give them +0.2V extra voltage"... And i'm not happy with putting them into the freezer. Does a newer bios adress this problem? It just says "improved memory compatiblity"...
Thanks!
When I run Warcraft III(I know really old) and minimize to desktop, the screen will stay black for some reason and only once in a while work. Even after I exit WC3 screen is still black. Only way to fix for now is restarting comp. Anyone know what the problem could be? Rig in sig

sure that this error is directly connected to the p5b? had the same thing with my 6800gt and gigabyte board... gpu died, problem solved
Please somebody help me clear my P5B-D's cmos!!!
A week or so ago I flashed my BIOS with 0711 and the reboot+power down problem was gone. This morning I upped vmch and vdimm just a bit to try out some slightly higher speeds. Well, I got home from work and my computer had restarted and was sitting at a black screen (obviously no POST).
When I restarted my computer I noticed that the old problem was back: power up and it instantly powers down. 2-3 seconds later it powers up, but no POST. All fans, lights, drives, etc. are on but no POST. No beeps either.
I've tried:
1. Unplugging PSU
2. Unplugging mobo connectors from PSU
3. Remove CMOS battery
4. Clear CMOS jumper for ~5 minutes
5. Hook everything back up
But still no POST at all. For the life of me it seems I just cannot get this CMOS cleared!!!!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When vmch is raised to 1.65v it reverts pci-e to 1x mode. There are many tricks than work or not, but nothing that trully solves it. 804 bios supposed to do that.Originally Posted by dinos22

I just think it's a mb related pb and no bios will correct this as it seems random...
there are some mb out there that normally should have not been released on market...
Set the JMicro to IDE, the JMicro controller is for the IDE connector and the other 2 SATA connectors. Set the SATA config to IDE (If your not going to do RAID there is no need to set it to RAID or to AHCI. Actually I've found AHCI mode to be slower then IDE mode). Connect the drive you are going to use as the BOOT drive to SATA 1. The other 2 drives can be connected to either the other red or black SATA connectors. IYRTM you would of seen the red ports are master ports and the black ports are the slave port. Although it really doesn't matter which ports you us other then for the BOOT drive. Yes you will need to use the F6 key and load the Intel drivers during the OS load.

I already tried that... no change...
I seriously don't know why the HELL all you people are having problems with PCIe 1x. I've tried almost every single bios, and NONE of them had this problem, even when running 1.65vMCH which is completely unnecessary, even when running 500FSB.
If your NB is requiring such high volts to run stable, rip off the stock cooler and inspect the contact because from my experience, at least 50% of the boards have EXTREMELY POOR contact, I'm talking at least 1/3rd exposed cores.
