Last update on my PQI RAM issue. I updated to BIOS 0507 and slapped in my RAM and it booted without any BIOS modifications. So to anyone wondering the RAM issue was addressed in new BIOS.

This really needs a sticky. I'm tired of going back 3 pages to find it.

    That's a good question.

Just got my P5B-Deluxe (in replacement of a P5WDH) and test it with a 6400. Will post tomorrow my results. Only good things to say about this board so far though...

Odds are high you will be able to do 3.2 GHz on stock volts. With a small bump in vcore you should be able to do 500 x 7 for 3.5 GHz with zero issues. 3.6 GHz and up may require additional volts on the vcore and NB. My mobo will do 500 FSB with default voltage on the NB. With no mods and my ram @ 4-4-4-10 I have a max FSB of 520 on this board.

    Enjoy!

ok so i enabled intel raid and set up the RAID1 mirror went back to bios to make sure it boots from my single drive where the OS is (Not on Raid) DONE >> Restart >> Crashes on that Windows startup with the bars

set it back to default speed if you haven't done it already and the try it again...if still a problem, switch drives.

did you install the Raid driver in the single drive OS before loading it with an actual raid array?

Not trying to talk down or anything (just in an attempt to help) but in all honesty, did you read through the manual? I was skimmiing over it when I first got my board and there is a pretty long and extensive section on setting up your RAID. You might find some answers there. I don't know as I didn't have to set one up but I know most people don't bother to read there manual. Best of luck though.

    Yes of course I did

but i didn't think it was necessary to install raid drivers at the beginning.........

i was thinking of eliminating areas that could interfere with a normal install..sometimes overclocking with a raid array can stop you in your tracks...i found out on my P5WDG2 WS pro board that the intel raid controller craps out at anything above 120 MHz in PCIe bus speed.

If at all possible, use the Intel Matrix RAID, NOT the JMicron. It is far superior in speed and ease of setup.

Do you guys think having raid 0 off the intel matrix hinders FSB ?

I noticed yesterday after I flashed 0605 bios I has strange happenings, no matter what FSB it seemed to want to stay at 321, and also multiplier would not change from 9 no matter what I was stuck at 9x321. I flashed back to 0507 and same thing. I cleared cmos flashed 0507 again and cleared cmos and now I can switch multis just fine, and running 428 fsb and priming... wierdness

Haven't yet fully finished my oc'ing tests due to hard work.
However till now my stable 6400's oc is 3.45ghz (430x8). Will due further testing and post a thread. Really love this board. This is a worthy Asus board.
One question. Are your boards rev 1.03g also?

are you using the red Intel SATA connectors and do you have the drives set to master if the drive has jumper and pins for that selection?

if you are already doing the above then my suggestion is try different drives to see if you get the same results.

Hey guys...can you help a n00b with his overclock?

From everything I see I should be able to get my e6400 to 2800 without a problem. But it seems like it's my ram. Orthos can run Small FFTs but crashes on large or blend.

I have Corsair 6400, timings are advertised to be 5-5-5-15 but SPD says 5-6-6-18. So I put them in manually, not 18 as I have seen some using though. Vcore is at 1.375 but I don't think I even need that boost. I just now tried with 400x7 to avoid the problematic 350-400 range. No joy! WTF is stock vcore supposed to be anyway?

With my new Arctic 7 I stay a nice cool 55 at load with this clock...
