and how do i fix it ?? maybe thats why my pc is booting on games !
My P5B Deluxe seems to be under-volting the CPU. I set it to 1.3v in BIOS and AI Suite and CPU-Z show the CPU at 1.248v. Is this normal?
Good news, when I initially set the voltage to like 1.250v in BIOS, I'm 100% stable with Windows showing 1.240 @ 3.0GHZ.
Working fine now.Originally Posted by ingenue007
Just running at normal speeds. Have not tried to OC again yet.
Did you RMA it to Asus ? Been too long to send it back to where I got it from. Just hope it keeps working Don't want to not have computer over Christmas break.
Thanks!
well...I'm almost sure that is my PSU that is not holding things here.
I reduced my over all the way back to 3 ghz and now i can play again..
next month i'll by a 700 watts psu and try to raise that over again
i should have RMA'ed to asus. I RMA'ed to buy.com where i bought it for. their RMA process sucks. 2+ weeks.
Buy a good brand tho, like Antec, Hiper, Silverstone e.t.c. not thermalcake. You could also try a bit more VCore maybe but if orthos 2004 can run for a few hours it wouldnt be the CPU clock at all.Originally Posted by tntgdh
it isn't the cpu...i left prime running for 4 hours last night...perfect...
i'll buy another psu, thats for sure.

Those are nice results. It's the only bios I have tried, so I was wondering if 804 is better for any reason or I'll just stick with 903.Originally Posted by ChaosMinionX

I've got a P5B-E and was playing with a DS3 this week. On the DS3 I could set 1.40v and get 1.39 idle and 1.36 load. With the P5B-E I set 1.50v in the BIOS to get 1.392 idle and 1.368 load. I'm taking it that everyone sees that much droop? Hell even at idle I need 1.5 BIOS to get 1.39v - I didnt realize what a problem this was until I played with the DS3 though.

I took the heat sinks off the NB and it was barely making contact. I replaced it with an aftermarket chipset cooler, but I would recommend everyone inspect and at least re-TIM and Re-set theirs. May not change your o/c much but it's probably worth doing anyway.

That seems to be the norm for the P5B Deluxe.Originally Posted by dnottis

Shame I have to consider mods to get anywhere.

I think that’s the problem across all P5B's from what I have seen.
I tied the DS3 myself and had the exact same experience.
Not a bat overclocker it just wasn’t usable for me.

I think Im also having the PCI-E 1x trouble, I haven't ever see it say 1x in cpuz but yesterday I went to run 3DMark06 and Aquamark3 all at my normal OC'ed clocks, was getting 5fps in 3D06 whereas I usually 43, and god knows how many in AM3.
BTW, anyone who Runs AM3 do they get problems with the Large Scale Vegetation scene?
I usually get 60-180fps but ATM im getting around 20!

well heres my findings on my board if it helps anyone out.
i have my system at the following settings and it boot fine with pci-e at x16.
fsb=500(3.5ghz)
pci-e=101mhz
pci=33.33
vcore=1.33v
vmem=2.3
fsb term=1.3
nb vcore=1.25v
sb vcore=1.5
ich chip voltage=auto
my board has a 0.03volt drop,if it set it to 1.33v i get 1.3,if i set it to 1.5 i get 1.47v.
it still does the double boot but only if i go from about 480fsb to 500+fsb.

I ve been telling this for a few times in this thread. You can fix this by setting the voltages MANUALLY.Originally Posted by Bootup05

My pc6400 HZ can do 550~~600 (what rolco said), currently i run 500@5-4-4-12 @ 2.15V .
That is because i let the spd choose the timings.
My PC:
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (9x 333),
waiting at cpu waterblock for OC
-2GBHZ G.Skill Dualchannel@ 333@ 1.9V
-Asus P5B Deluxe, no mods
-2x raptor 74gb (8mb) RAID0
-8800GTS @ stock
-Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE
-Zalman 460W-APS
Playing with the voltages on the P5B-e, I came up with some interesting findings.
Notes of interest here are that 1.375v in the bios provides more real voltage than 1.4v - 1.425v. So like the FSB settings there are preferred bus speeds it looks like the same thing holds true with the voltages. Choosing 1.4v will give you less than 1.375v.
I will complete more testing and try to include voltages in CPUZ during idle and load if I have time tonight. Hopefully this helps someone other than just me!

Did you check the voltage with a dmm?
If so, do you know where I can find where the points of contact are to check the vcore?

So what this essentially means, I havent tested it with a meter, however the levels on the P5B-E truely need to be ridiculously high to hit the same volts you would actually get on another board. Its not scientific and for all I know the reading from both boards could be way off from what is actually getting to the CPU - but the point was to match the overclocks...
DS3 1.4 BIOS volts gives me the same volts / overclock with orthos stability / speeds that I need 1.5v on the Asus to reach - however the true voltage is the same.
