, what is this guy talking about?Nothing is impossible. AMD can't afford to buy Nvidia, but ATI is a possibility. I won't bet one buck on this. AMD may be better off buying some smaller graphics companies out there. But, what if AMD bought a graphics company?
0) AMD must be making a lot of market share gains to be so confident.
1) AMD can integrate graphics into the CPU. The graphics engine will have 2.xGHZ speed instead of the current 500MHZ, spewing 2 watts instead of 40 watts. Performance needs no emphasizing. Power reduction is especially important for mobile and silent PCes. The integrated memory controller has plenty of bandwidth. Z-RAM can provide a good amount of cache for the starving CPU and graphics cores.
2) AMD can optimize AMD64 for graphics, adding a few new instructions and circuits to boost graphics performance substantially.
3) Going forward, AMD may also integrate other stuff such as physics into the CPU.
