    problems with AM2

    Hello.
i have some problems with me PC. im playing world of warcraft, and efter some playing, the pc is freezing 1-2sec. an then it rebout.

    whats wrong with me pc?

im not overclocking, the cpu has never been overcloked at all.

i had the problems before, and then i think me CPU, maybe it got hot, so i buy a thermalright ultra-120, and now its onely get 42 in games (load) and 25-32 idle, did not help.
then i reinstall windows XP, after formating the paration on the HD. and it still rebouting after some time playing games.

then i pull off the side of the case. me heatpipe cooler on the motherbord is hot.. okay, i mounted the small ASUS clear plastic fan on the heatpipecooler, it helps, but not vary long.

but now when i take a 30cm fan (office table fan) and place it in front of the open case (side of the case is still off) then there is no ploblems at all.

Me conclusion is that the chipsæt is getting hot.

what do you say? im i right, do you have other conclusion?

i am open fore all your help you can give me.

others that have the same problems?

okay, what PSU would you recommend?

i have looked at "Tier 2 Brands - Top Quality components With Top Notch Stability - For Those With Price/Availability Issues With Tier 1":

    other PSU's?
which one would you recommend? -links? -reviews?

Perhaps. Seems like that is what is pointing out the most.

It is an EE so it should be pulling to much V. What voltage is running though the CPU?

Try Prime 95 on the dual cores and see if the same thing happens.

defoult is 1,29volt when its on auto in the bios. and i have tried more vcore and lesser vcore from 1,20v-1,35v (read in bios and everest).

i will test something, what voltage dos a chipset need?

    NB:?
    SB:?

maybe they get to many volt, i will test them at lower voltage, maybe higher allso. what is you experience with that?

okay, here ar me test results so far.

    all idle:
    temps
core 0 is 34 (case fans at low speed)
core 1 is 26 (case fans at low speed)
    GFX/GPU is 51
    case fans at low speed

CPU vcore 1,26v (bios set on manuel, NOT auto, auto is 1,29v)
    +12v = 11,84v (some times drops down to 11,78v)
    +5v = 4,91v
    +3,3v = 3,29v
    vdimm = 2,1v

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    dual prime95, small FFT
    100% load
    90min burn time, no erros:

    temps
core 0 is 48 (case fans at low speed)
core 1 is 39 (case fans at low speed)
GFX/GPU is 53 (case fans at low speed)

    temps
core 0 is 45-46 (case fans at high speed)
core 1 is 36-37 (case fans at high speed)
GFX/GPU is 51 (case fans at high speed)

    CPU vcore 1,26v
    +12v = 11,78v
    +5v = 4,95v
    +3,3v = 3,30v

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    dual prime95, in-place large FFT
    100% load
    error after 15min burn time.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    dual prime95, in-place large FFT
    100% load
but without EPP (EPP = Enhanced Performance Profiles, something corsair ram have)
ERROR after 65min, 5min after i have set the fan speed to slow.

    temps
core 0 is 48 (case fans at low speed)
core 1 is 39 (case fans at low speed)
GFX/GPU is 52 (case fans at low speed)

    temps
core 0 is 45-46 (case fans at high speed)
core 1 is 36-37 (case fans at high speed)
GFX/GPU is 51 (case fans at high speed)

    CPU vcore 1,26v
    +12v = 11,84v
    +5v = 4,92v
    +3,3v = 3,30v

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
same test, but ddr400 speed (ddr 800 before), and 1,8 vdimm
pc freeze, and i hit the power swich.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
same test again, but after i had some sleep.
the pc shotdown on its own after 10min.

    temps just before shotdown:
    core 0 is 37
    core 1 is 44

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    hmm what now?

Do you have the 65w chip? Are 4600+ EE? What is stock V on those?

Run Prime small FTT for a few hours and if you end up getting an error there it is probably a chip issue.

However I noticed you get them when you're using Large Ftt. Therefore it could be memory related. I have a feeling it may be your memory. What is teh voltage necessary and what is the voltage being received on the memory.

yes it is a 4600+ EE. 65W. bios at auto is 1,29
    http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desk...=ADO4600IAA5CU

and i thought so to,, its only when its large FFT. i had tryid running single channel 1*1024mb but still gets error after 90min dual prime.

    SPD is 5-5-5-18 2T vdimm 1,8v
    EPP 4-4-4-12 2T Vdimm 2,1v
on the the side of the dimms there ar a sticker:
    4-4-4-12 2T 2,1v

on me system now: EPP highperformance (no oc) 4-4-4-12 2T vdimm 2,1v (2,1v in bios)

    good news

    when i disable:
PEG-link and SLI ready ram in bios...

then its dual prime95 large FFT stable.

i will test the black ram slots in the weekend

but! me chipset is still damned bloody hot.. i will borrow infra-red temp. measuring instrument from a friend tomorrow. then i know how hot it is.
