Nope, that doesnt work for the Biostar BIOS in the AN50R.
Even the /nbl stuff doesnt help.

This BIOS implements a Write Protect which prevents further BIOS updates unless you use the in-BIOS update menu.

Only way I found was to replace the BIOS chip ended up hot flashing an A7N8X motherboard with the shuttle BIOS then swapping bios chips.

Yeah, thats the best way. I now keep a Shuttle BIOS eeprom and a Biostar BIOS eeprom.

The Biostar BIOS doesnt seem to initialise the volt regulators correctly (especially the Vldt regulator) so the way I do it is:

    1. boot with shuttle bios and set up voltages
    2. save settings and reboot
    3. hot swap to biostar bios & reboot
    4. configure memory timings with biostar bios (dont touch the voltage settings)
    5. save settings and reboot into windoze

the voltages set in the first step will then be retained.

EDIT: A BIOS Saviour would make this easier

    Nice one anyway

I would love to get my cpu to its max, if only the board would not limit me... I am quite sure I would get it to 3.2GHz at least with 255fsb or so...

I cannot knack the 31s now because of that, but I am quite nearby...

    I'll have to try on.

Do you really think the 32bit server could get me the second?

Hmm. I doubt it, but maybe the higher bench values (4M to 32m) would gain some seconds...

My 2400-M maxed out @ 3.1ghz @ 2v. I didn't have vsense at the time because my board used to do 2.2v without it.
I think they put some life in these DFI. They do whatever they want, whenever they feel like.

The Win2003 Server Evaluation Copy slightly modified to workstation ( 32 bit copy ) Gave me a 1 second improvement.
    I had 31 seconds running my P4 EE @ 4.25 GHZ 5/4 and afterwards I had 30 seconds.
Yes it gave me a nice push so I assume it is worth a try.
