XP1700[11x133], PcChips M851G mb, 512 Samsung pc2700, in a case salvaged from a dumpster. It has folded for several teams but has never been turned off[except power outages] in about 20 months. It has completed 303 wu's, some big, a lot small.

well at the moment I am just running two instances on a p4 930 D @ 3.9 ghz

    This weekend I will add 3 more instances...one running on a p4 2.4 (non HT) and two on a dual g5 2.7ghz.

I had a locked modem because of my local ISP and I couldnt share the connection without a server but I just managed to hack it, so now I can have a decent local network with independent connections for each machine. Just waiting for the router to arrive on friday and they can start folding

Still not sure if I should try the gpu client because my x1900 is running with the stock cooler and my current case is getting warmer then it should..you guys have any advice?

    cheers

I'll take this opportunity to thank mike for chucking a machine on here & on QMC too - appreciate it. I also find it satisfying when something that was heading for the bin gets salvaged & gets folding

@hoax I wouldn't say there's a problem using the stock cooler, but GPU folding will hog some CPU too so it will interrupt the points you get on that CPU usually & you might end up with some no credit time as the bugs get ironed out. Depends if you have time to play with settings etc

@ jimwah: thanks for the reply (btw I really like your folding farm pics lol, keep it up)

I gave it a try and no problems so far (other then having to turn off my second cpu instance) It completed a 2725 with 85 steps. about 8 minutes per step. x1900xtx stock fan and cooler

I will probably turn it off tho cause my current case is simply too hot.. But hopefully by the time they fix some bugs of this release I will have the new rig running..

    cheers

Dang I realized that asking the people here to help me fight the addiction is useless, if anything you guys will eg me on - "buy more! fold more! attaboy!"

Anyway, I bought a computer, 1GHz P3, 20GB HD (probably pull that for use in a different computer and put a ~3-6GB drive in there, no need for much storage space), 128MB RAM (I have RAM here to upgrade it with), onboard video. It is an IBM.

I lost an auction that I really wanted, it had a Xeon 1GHz with the capability of a second CPU. Lost it by a couple bucks O well.

I think what is really making me want to do more is miochza - he is nipping at my heels and keeps threatening to bump me down a notch in the team list. I can't stand that, thing is he must have a C2D or something to turn out those WUs that fast.

I hate intel but dang I must admit that chip is pretty impressive...

Finally I remembered to take some pics. I call it my cardboard army Although there seems to be a defector to the steel side on the left there...

Looking behind it, eek what a mess of wires!

There are 7 systems there, 3 in the bottom box, 2 in the middle (most recent addition) and 1 in the top. The topmost one is folding for BugsBMD now, eventually it'll be in his possession. I plan to add a few more here in the hopefully near future

The cardboard datacenter! I just posted some pics in the TPR thread, I might just move them over here, makes more sense really. Be right back...

    ...I'm back:

Here's my PCP&C in my Antec 900 w/ DX2800's Bit of a stretch to get the cables all the way round the rear fan.

And the Zeus 560w I've literally thrown in my main rig this evening (PD805 x1900GT) will tidy the cables up after the race Need a new box for this really, maybe another Antec 900 in the new year.

I don't have a camera to take pictures yet (Here's hoping, Santa), but if I get one, I'll edit with pics.

    The E6600 @ 3.3ghz w/ the X1900XT @ 789.5/864 (now down to 5:04 per frame), and the E6400 @ 3.65ghz running SMP Linux client

    The 3ghz Opty 165 w/ X1650XT

    [(Hopefully) 2.7ghz s939 X2, and a 2.4ghz X2 w/ X1900gt.] <--- pending

Talking My humble part of XSTM

Sorry no pics, too much other stuff to do

2 x 2.8G Opteron 170 (dual core) both running Suse 10.2 64-bit w/ SMP clients (thanks to DragonOrta for pointing the way initially ) Usually good for 2350 PPD, so I am satisfied w/ them .

We had a goofy machine here but we are tracking it down and will get it fixed soon.

Well I thought I'd give some updated pics of my farm I now have them set up in this closet cabinet to keep the noise more isolated. Also keeps the mess of wires out of sight! The doors are left open all the time so they can breathe though Ignore the hanging shirts that need ironed
The specs of these are in my sig. The numbering has gotten a bit jumbled up now but oh well. Bottom box, with the 3 systems, right to left is fold2, fold3, and fold4. Metal case is fold5. Middle box from right to left is fold6 and fold1. Topmost one with the green fan is fold7, the most recent addition.

I had some scrap plexi lying around, a bling-bling PSU with an LED fan, and a green 80mm LED fan. For lack of a better use for these leftovers I put them in there and dubbed it the "bling folder"

As someone who did an engineering stint in the box manufacturing world...(and with an overabundantly pedantic nature)

From what I can see, those boxes are not cardboard....they are corrugated paper

Hey mike, what stepping is your opty 170?

I'm looking to buy one and someone offered me a 0530TPMW which is supposed to do 2.8GHz on air.
