so the X2 A64s dont have cold bugs?
That is amazing. 3ghz on air on a dual core. Wow, now Im torn between a X2 3800 or 4200... nice job yall.
You guys that got these at Fry's, any of you in the midwest? Or are they only in the CA/AZ area right now? We have a Fry's in the NW suburbs of Chicago... maybe I'll give them a call, but usually never end up getting a knowledgable person on the phone!
Thanks,
Brian
haha so true about frys in downers grove, IL. they're clueless most of the time. trying to find something there is like walking thru a maze. i did got lucky and bought a nice 3200 venice that oc pretty well. if the trip is not too long for you, i'd drive there and check and see if they have the x2. too bad i already ordered my 4400 x2 online. make sure you examine the package carefully. when i bought my 3200 venice, they gave me a demo cpu where they used it on a display system. they didn't even bother to apologize for giving me a box that's openned and the cpu that's used. if you're near naperville, there's a tiger direct and they might have the 3800 x2 too :).
I might swing by the Downers Grove one after work, depending on traffic :bs:
Is there a FRY's in Mass or NH? :slobber:
How come all the noob shops get them first? I guess it's a good thing though, they are clueless about the demand these chips are gonna get so they don't jack up the prices too much.

Do you guys think the avg 3800+ will OC this high (^ 3ghz) with good H2O? Or did he just get lucky with this chip he got? Realllly anxious to see more people get their hands on these 3800s...
Think an extra 100mhz is worth the loss of 512k l2? hehe I know its a "no" but trying to convince myself to save money.
Basically, I have heard that pretty much all X2 4400+'s reach about 2.6ghz. After that, it's all hit and miss. Some will do it, some won't. (These results are based on air and water). Because of the one duff core, most people I think could hit about 2.7-2.8ghz but this usually kicks out some serious heat (even for my watercooling) so I just leave it at 2.6ghz. This is with the IHS on so yeah, your estimation sounds there abouts OK. I wouldn't necessarily say 2.9ghz though because many X2 users who haven't reached that have probably not posted theri results. You will see the people who are happy with their clocks posting most of the time.
3Ghz on air is just for show and boot into windows right? if it's 3Ghz on air and stable 24/7 and can handle gaming and multitasking then i'll be impress. lets be more realistic and post your final stable 24/7 with gaming and multitasking clock speed please. also list your components(especially psu) as this will be important when running dual core. thanks.
Sorry if these are some people here with different names but njkid32 and hitechjb1 look like they are getting good results also:

2.9s though not 3.0s... njkid said he removed the IHS, assuming hitech did too.
Really wish they'd come out with a 4000+ E6 :(
Uhh if you've read this thread you'd know njkid32 has been posting in this thread too.
Yes you are correct I did it just for show. I didnt use clockgen I booted at 3ghz. Anyway I just wanted to see if it would do it. I know it takes time to break a new chip in so I didnt want to start pumping alot of volts through it and clocking it super high.Quote:

UPDATE for Chicago-suburbs folks!!!
I just spoke to the Fry's in Downer's Grove, and they DO have the X2 3800+ !! 4 of them to be exact. I have one on hold.
Maybe I should buy all 4 and eBay three of them!! :D hehehehe

don't even bother, not everyone is going to rush out and get an x2. i'm surprised that monarch doesn't have it in stock yet. they're the darling of amd resellers. this got to be a low blow for them. i guess frys is bigger so they got the better treatment.Quote:

I think my BW is doing great but if its anything like the Venice the AW should be better. Its funny cuz my venice is a BW and it does 3ghz on air so ya never know. I did ask them to look at the other ones they had and they only had BW's Robert over at ocforums got a AW from Fry's in CA.Quote:

I would recomend for anyone to get this chip its cheap and it out performs my shi**y SD for 75.00 more. It does seem that you always want the first shipment of chips cuz they are better oc'ers (so I have read)
Hah cool, you saved me a drive over there :toast:
I just ran 3DMark03 and got a 9500 score I am not to sure if thats good or not. I am running my 6600GT stock right now and 2 monitors. Does 2 monitors hurt me in benchmarks?
I think that's damn high for a 6600GT stock. Anybody with me?
OOPS my bad, I thought it was at stock speeds. Sorry! But still is this good?Quote:

Well its def better than my SD at 2.6! Do you know if running 2 monitors hurts my performance?Quote:

Thats not bad at all, here's what I got with my 6600gt and 3700sd: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3964173 , with all the settings the same as mine your score would probably be similar.Quote:

Nice score! What do you have your card clocked to to get that score?Quote:

Jeez that high no artifacs? I wonder if I could clock that high. Are you using stock cooling?
I also have a 6800Ultra that I could put in but I have just been messin with my CPU's I wasnt worried about my vid card;)
Stock cooling with allot of air blowing into the case directly at the cpu/video card with the side cover off and a pretty powerful squirrel cage fan, there was a green block every now and then but for the most part the artifacts where very minimal.Quote:

Cool, I think I will try and push mine a little more once I get my cpu fully tested (which I prolly never stop messin with) But I may just throw my EVGA 6800Ultra in just cuz I have it. Its still brand new in the box:)Quote:
