Oh boy can't wait for one of those Bloomfields
I'm already saving some money for it :D
Licks lips at the thought of integrated memory controller.;)
wooo Q8200, what is that ? :)
Isnt Q4 coming quick? I think Christmas is already settled.
so i'm a bit confused about this whole 2 new socket things. is the 2.6GHZ bloom gonna be considered the "top end enthusiast" socket or part of the "mainstream"/lower/cheaper(ish) socket? the road map labels it as mainstream, but i thought only the "high end" socket was releasing in 08
ah thanks a lot for that link majestik
LGA1366 = Enthusiast, upper mainstream and 'extreme' segment. Tri-channel, QPI, the lot.
LGA1160 = Mainstream. Dual-channel, DMI interface, possibly no overclocking.
I know which one I am eyeing and which one I am blatantly ignoring.. :yepp:
So far, lack of "mainstream" chipset worries me. I only heard of X58, and judging by the current prices of X48 it will be $200+ for *any* mobo.
Yeah - these is room for some serious dickery here. Hoping they dont give everyone the finger and only allow OC'ing on extreme segment...

This QPI difference between the Bloomfield XE and the other two can be solved through overclock?
I had two AMD 64 before moved to Intel platform but completely forgot how to overclock without fsb :D
Another thing: does anyone knows whats the multi on each processor?
EDIT: just found this:

Nice find Viper. So does anyone know if the QPi can be clocked higher or is that purely in how many bits wide the link is?
Number of bits is constant at 20bits. It's in the QuickPath spec. The only difference seems to be the quickpath multi (24x vs 18x). My random guess is that the quickpath multi will be adjustable down, or something like it.
edit: found this rather interesting pic:

Tylersburg aka X58
This is all really interesting stuff. Keep posting up the good finds!
I know its early but how well will a 2.66 or 2.93 fair against a qx9650 ? Will raw clock speed win ? Is it true that only the new qx will overclock ?
Depends on the application I guess. Yorkfield has 12mb L2 cache, Bloomfield will have 1mb L2 and 8mb L3 cache. Clock per clock it should be faster, but how much
2/3 of the stuff in this thread are just reposts from http://www.nehalemnews.com/

If $284 rumor is true, then
Looks like we'll never see single cores phased out  Celeron dual core is only $10 more than a Celeron 420 so what's the point......
nice to see more info coming through but i will wait until it has been tested abit first before.
Ah thanks. Spot the blind man.
Suppose Intel thinks that the margins that they loose from putting a dual core on a celeron is not worth it. I think there are still a lot of people that want the 'absolute cheapest CPU' regardless if for $10 more you can get a dual core.
Bet Intel thinks that market is massive and lowering the cost per chip to bet that low cost chip is worth it.
