*Note that the timings on my modules are rated 2.5-3-3-7 instead of 2.5-4-4-8. OCZ realised that it can do 2.5-3-3-7 24/7 and hence the stock timing changes.

i didn't want to go higher as i thought that 3.6v is on the border line of feasibility of daily usage with active cooling. I reckon with more burning in i can achieve 260mhz 1.5-2-2-6 stable without problems.

Pros :
- Very good value
- no heatspreader
- overclocks like the VX series
- Did i say cheap?
- Brain Power PCB

Cons :
- unbinned
- no guarantee of results

i picked up some twinmos speed premium 3200 bh-5. not real happy with it. I was gonna order this ocz value vx tomorrow from newegg. Does this stuff have the same chips as the twinmos? i thought the ch-5 was better than bh-5.. and theres another thread.... ocz vx, best memory made since bh5 isn't the value vx the same thing?

value vx uses the same chips and pcb as the normal vx line

they use CH5

nowadays i reckon they all perform identical.. some better.. some worse.. so it's really hard to say which one is better..

do not use BH-5 chips, but CH-5?

I thought it says in the UTT sticky that 1. uses BH-5. But information could change over time though.

I am thinking of getting one of the three from Nintek to save me my time and a guarantee that I get BH-5 chips.

Strange that the timings on your sticker are 3-4-4-8 because mine are 2.5-3-3-7. My Value VX sticks don't even boot at 3-X-X-X. I saw this on the RAM LIST sticky and tried it once and later many, babyelf included, told me of this fact.

probably just a mislable ..

and SDX.. BH and CH memory looks the same.. the dimples and 2 side metal thing on the chip..

and RyderOCZ just cleared things up for us just then :)

I got this Value VX almost the first week after it was available.

One stick is dead because I scratched the PCB all up becuase I am stupid=\, the other one runs clear through memtest86 at 245 2-2-2-5 3.2v damn nice in my opinion. Planning on trying a set of the OCZ PC3200 Gold BH-UTT when I get s'more money.

According to this, my OCZ4001024WV3DC-K shown below is BH die? It has no dimples.

OCZ400512WV3 / OCZ4001024WV3DC-K used to use Winbond CH for a short period of time, but changed to Winbond BH to give higher performance out of the box. Generally Winbond BH has a higher capacity of passing 2-2-2 200-220FSB without a speed grade than Winbond CH.

The modules you have pictured above Musk are Winbond CH.

To clarify on the dimples, as of late March, early April Winbond started producing both Winbond BH and Winbond CH with dimples, so that cannot be used to tell the difference after March 2005.

got the wire, new 30w soldering iron and some srink wrap today for the vdimm=vio mod, should pick up the stuff for the vsense tomorrow (couldnt remember which to get exactly, the resistor values, etc.... is 15turns ok?)

ram should be in tomorrow... im going to try and see what i can get out of it at my board's 2.96vdimm max first...

Typical behavior of the old BH-5 dies, I think it's safe to say yours are BH5. BTW, this is a very easy way for all of you guys to figure out if yours are CH5 or BH5- BH doesn't boot at cas3. I forgot all about this, but have confirmed it with all four of my old BH-5 sticks.

Also, BH does NOT scale with timings- if it'll run at 2.5-3-3-7 at any given speed/voltage, it'll run 2-2-2-5 by dropping no more than 5MHz without any further adjustments.

Thanks a great deal. Would this mean at 3-x-x-x CH-5 might still boot while BH-5 would not? I am glad that I have BH-5 ram.

I just managed to leave the ram running on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe for like 120 loops on Test #5 at 2-2-2-5 DDR400 2.8V and I got about 4 errors.

Is this normal for BH-5 ram?

I got the sticks about a week ago in from a local shop in Melbourne.

The pairs have been burned in for more than 48 hours in total (I did like 3 -4 times) at 2-2-2-5 in all-test loops @ 3.2Vdimm.

But I guess I can't RMA it at least in OZ based on this ground because I was running it outside it specs. :(

EDIT: My brother and I share the same computers so it can mix up sometimes because of cookies stored in the PCs. His is FLD and mine is FLDQUY157. But we share all info, so it's alright to answer.

The reason for the timings adustment is that Winbond BH is architecturally (is this a word?) incapable of doing CAS3 timings. No Winbond BH will ever post at cas3, that is why the timings were adjusted to 2.5-4-4 (current spec).

maybe i should of got 2 single sticks agian

my hypotheseis...

if you get Value ram, ONLY BUY SINGLE STICKS
it seems that the older sticks end up in DC kits so they can get rid of them faster.... plus theyll get more out of selling 2 single sticks, than they would on a DC kit

found somone (SaFrOuT) that has the exact same thing on the sticks as i do...
makes me kinda sick, wanted BH-5 so i could get the good speeds w/ lower voltages, w/o doing any mod's on my board, and voiding the warrenty of 2.6 +-5%

and i am sure that they r CH since i can't get any higher than 215FSB using Vdimm 3.2 from 3.3v rail

and i need 3.1Vdimm to be stable on my 24/7 settings
300x9 1.4x104%
ratio 140:200 == 210FSB

minimum 3V for 200FSB and 3.3 for 250FSB and anything greater than that won't be stable even with 3.6V

haven't burnt them till now , gonna do tonight or tom for sometime using test5

so r u sure Andy that ur info is 100% correct that my kit according to ur words they r supposed to be BH but i can get 200FSB stable with less than 3V

So I can't get post with these sticks at cas 2 with up to 3.4v :confused:

This is in an intel box mind you but my Mushkin blue works. I do think My blues are BH- though.

Any suggestions. Do you think they will work on my DFI NF4?

i just checked CPU-Z and its speed timmings say 2.5-4-4-8, so im guessing my chips are BH-5?

any way to tell w/o testing them?

EDIT :: i tried the whole BH (characteristics) of refusing to post at CL3, and it wouldnt post at CL3, i also checked CPU-Z and it said that the default timmings for my sticks are 2.5-4-4-8, which is the BH based Value Ram

With which voltage man?

2-2-2-11 200mhz @2.8vdimm (just 1 pass w/ memtest and its stable)

i tried 2.9vdimm at the 238mhz 2.5-2-2-11 and it would get into windows and about the time everything was loaded, i would get a random reboot.

im guessing a burnin would help alot though, just got the sticks in

EDIT:: forgot... im at 2T, afaik 1T and 2T dosent yeld very drastic differences on a NF2 board, and these boads dosent like dual sided memory, havent tried the 1T bios w/ this memory, cas of 1.5 isnt an option in my bios either, seeing as its a NF2 board

headding for atleast a 10 hour burnin at 2.96vdimm 233mhz 2-2-2-5, as reccomended by uwackme's guide (its actually 3.2/3vdimm, but my NF7-S is currently only able to do 2.96vdimm w/ overvolt)

wow very good.

the last burnin at 233mhz 2-2-2-5 @ 2.96 for 4.5 hours, didnt lower the errors i was getting in memtest 5, just got on to post an update, i think im gonna go down to 232/1 for the burnin for the next 5 or 6 hours.

i never thought that the Tras mattered very much on clocks, but going from 11 to 5 made a difference in the errors i received... i think its b/c of how slow the NF2 mem controler is compared to a NF4(A64 on chip), b/c a NF4 can handle a Tras of 5, so if i slowdown the Tras to 11 it will make about all the errors disappear, b/c its not reading it to fast for the memory controler to keep up

not bad for nf2.. not bad at all

should i try burning in at 2-2-2-11 since it is know that a low tras on a NF2 can make the memory not read the entire cell and have to backpedal to get info?

so could some of the errors i get from burning in at 2-2-2-5 be because the memory dosent completely read the cell and memtest86+ just keeps going and dosent finish reading the info in the cell?

im fin @ 230mhz w/ 2-2-2-5 but that is starting to really push the memory controler on these boards, should i burnin at 2-2-2-11

I was very disappointed at first... thought i got a dud pair. Stuck them in my machine and it wouldnt even pass memtest @ 200fsb 2-2-2-5 3.2v. Then i updated my bios to the latest official one and... memtest worked!... for a while... and then got errors after about 10 mins... :(. Finally i gave up on it because it was stable in windows anyway (3dmark, superPI etc) so i couldnt of cared less.

Then, today i decided to give memtest a run again and to my surprise... it passed with no errors after 30 mins! After just one two nights of usage, its now memtest stable for 6 hours at 255fsb 2-2-2-5 3.5v!

Great stuff this is, makes me wanna start benching again! :banana:

lol.. give it a good and long burn in.. then u'll be amazed..

I got some 0509 new BH-5 on my TMSP3200 and haven't done any burnin, gives me hope that these sticks will perform better.

Question: Can you run the divider at 5/6 with new bh-5?

babyelf what bios on the ultra-d still bios 331-2? Does the 310 stink?

331-2 bios worked pretty good for my value vx.. but 310 is better for my old bh-5

divider works fine :)

No, not even a 4-8-8-15

I just got mine in the mail today. So far they're up to 240MHz 2.0-2-2-5 at 3.5v with no errors in Memtest. Hopefully after a burn in overnight they'll do a little bit more, but so far they're no slouch for only $100.

i can't find them on newegg anymore !!!!
