Got to ask cause i have never seen it mentioned before (although i cant be bothered to go back over this thread). Has any one noticed the extra IRQ options when pressing Ctrl F1?

Every time I tried, the boot would stop and I would see "BOOT DISK FAILURE blah blah blah" and then I'd hit reset and everything would be fine. Well, I experimented a bit and here's what I found out. I have a 150GB Raptor and a 250GB WD 2500KS drive. When both are plugged into yellow SATA slots, the motherboard ALWAYS thinks my 2500KS drive is the boot drive on a cold boot. Changing the boot order does nothing. The 2500KS drive is always in position one after a cold boot. So I plugged the 2500KS into a purple slot and kept the Raptor in yellow slot 1 and now everything is fine.
Here's the real kicker. In any BIOS past F4a, the BIOS though the boot failure was caused by the overclocking and would reset my BIOS instead of stopping with the BOOT DISK ERROR message. So now that I have my drives on separate controllers, I'm going to try the official F4 and see if I'm OK now.
Has anybody else encountered this? It's almost like the motherboard is automatically making the largest HDD the boot drive.
EDIT: I'm fine with BIOS F4 now. I'm going to keep my HDDs on separate controllers from now on.

it would come in handy if you had a sharing issue, say a sound card and the video card or something else.
you could move it to a different irq.

thats a wierd issue. but have you checked the jumpers on your hard drives they BOTH MUST be masters...
as long as your raptor is in the first sata slot (the one closest to the video card. it will always boot as master unless the bios see's it as something other than master.
dont use cable select either. make both master.
After failing to boot from OC settings, isn't it resetting to your backup BIOS which may not specify the correct boot order?Quote:

This whole situation shows why I hate this automated BIOS reset. IMO, F4a handles my error correctly. It shows BOOT DISK FAILURE, which gives me a chance to diagnose the problem. It shouldn't just reset everything on its own. That doesn't help me figure out what's wrong!
Now, I'm on the official F4 BIOS and everything works fine if I use one purple jack and one yellow jack instead of two yellow jacks. I don't know if there's a noticeable performance difference between the jacks/controllers, but I seriously doubt it. The 2500KS is my storage HDD anyway.
hi , i received m Ds3 from RMA today , and with this new DS3 (F4 bios) and new 2x 1Gb Teamgroup PC 5300 CL3-4-4-8 i cant boot more than 340FSB :( .
anyone with this config can give me the best settings???
regards
mascarilha-
you need to list your system specs and what settings you are using in the bios.
i think the problem its the teamgroup , with CL5 i can boot 350 FSB and with CL3 or CL4 i cant boot
this teamgroup 2x 1GB PC5300 should be CL3-4-4-8 but CPU-Z and everest read :
333mhz CL5-5-5-15 :

its the board that reads wrong????

manually set the timings in the bios to 4-4-4-12 and start overclocking set the ram voltage to +4 that equals 2.2v and will allow the ram to go 900+mhz @ 4-4-4-12.
as long as the northbridge is strong enough to allow it.
but the ram are rated CL3-4-4-8 why CPU-z and everest reads 333mhz CL5-5-5-15???Quote:

I have two Raptors in Raid0 on my DS3 on the Gigabyte controller.
If I try to boot over 460 Mhz Fsb My raid array fails.
If I increase PCIE Voltage .1V The problem goes away, Might be worth a try for you also.

Yeah, I've tried that. Nothing works but using one yellow jack and one purple jack. I'm just happy I can cold boot now :) I'm not one of those people who harps on a bug indefinitely. My solution works for me.Quote:

your RAM are the PC 5300 CL3-4-4-8 or CL3-3-3-8 (D9)????
what voltage you got to run 450mhz cl4-4-4-12???
my settings are:
vMCH - AUTO
Vcore - 3100Mhz@NORMAL // 3200Mhz@ 1.37v
Vdim - 2.0v(+0.2)
PCI - 100

My sticks have D9GMH chips inside. Just like every other stick with D9, their speed rating is irrelevant. My CPU craps out long before my RAM.Quote:

They're wrong. All of the Team Group is D9. My PC2-5300 3-4-4-8 set came with no heatspreaders and it's D9.Quote:
