I don't KNOW the answer to this. My gut feeling is that assigning all threads to crunching means that the machine gets to use every spare cycle for this and crunching gets a low priority in the greater scheme of things. However I can see what it is you are suggesting so I would try leaving one thread in each machine to do the housekeeping and then watch to see the impact on your points tally
Good Morning OC, I'm thinking you can answer a question for me. I have 8 thread computers and 12 thread computers. As I understand it, if I leave threads unassigned to allow them to do in-house duties, the other threads will be free to do more efficient XS crunching. Is this correct, and if so, how many threads per computer should I leave unassigned to do in-house duties? Thanks
Gandalph, I have pm'd
I am posting this as a PM since I doubt anyone else is interested in my system's config. Here are my two GPU crunching i7's setup. Main: i7-3930K@3.8GHz, ASUS Rampage IV Formula, 1x EVGA GeForce GTX 680, 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 285, LinuxMint (12 threads) 2nd: i7-950@3.06GHz, ASUS Sabertooth X58, 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 650, LinuxMint (8 threads) Would you please provide me with the best programming for an app_config.xml file configured for my two computers? I am assuming that this technique works with GeForce GPUs as well as ATI GPUs. I've noticed you have an efficiency of 1970 Pts/h. I'm jealous. Mine is 437. How do I improve my efficiency. Is it a question of configuration or of hardware? Thank you Gandalf
XS Comedian Of the Century ahhahah
OC, please accept my apologies for any offence caused by my post. I guess the world is not ready for my brand of Neanderthal humour & shall retreat to my cave, from whence I came.
You are up way to early OC, go back to bed.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
